WEDDING
PALMER—BAIGENT The wedding took place at St. John's Church. Wakefield, on Saturday after- , noon, of Olwvn Muriel, youngest j daughter of Mr Percy Baigent and the ; late Mrs Baigent. "Ryvcrsdale.” Wakefield. and Captain L. A. Palmer, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs W. L. Palmer. “Willis Brook.” Waimea West. Canon F. J. Dayncs conducted the service. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a teal blue ensemble suit-and grey Scarlett O'Hara hat. Miss Margaret Scott, the only bridesmaid, wore a frock of mushroom pink with a gathered neckline and a grey halo. Lieutenant J. Gadd. a fellow officer of the bridegroom, was best man. and Miss M. Bird organist. After the wedding ceremony a reception was held at the bride’s home. Conveying the best wishes of the gathering to the newly-married couple. Canon Daynes said that both of them came from well-known and old-estab-lished families in the Waimeas. The bride had been a member of St John’s choir as well as an active worker in the social life of Wakefield, and she would be greatly missed. He thanked Mr Baigent for his hospitality. A big sheaf of congratulatory telegrams from many parts of New Zealand and a cable from Australia were read. In the evening the bride and bridegroom, members of the two families, together with a few friends, met at Hotel Nelson for dinner, when the usual toasts were honoured.
