ANNIVERSARY IN SAMOA

ANDING O* N.Z. TROOPS IN 1911 (Rec. 11.40 a.m.) Apia, Aug. 29. The 28th anniversary of the landing of New Zealand troops in Western Samoa and the hoisting of the Union Jack was commemorated by an appropriate ceremony at the Administration buildings to-day. Mr A. C. Turnbull. acting-Administrator, delivered a stirring address to a large gathering of Europeans and Samoans. Speeches -were also made by the Hon. Faalavaau, Representing the Faipuli and Samoan people,, and by the Hon. Amando Stotvers. the second elected member of the Samoa Legislative Council. The flag was again raised by Naea, the Samoan who raised it on the 29th August, 1914. —P.A.
