ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO

A NELSON CHRONOLOGY 29th August, 1842: The Bishop preached yesterday morning in a very large tent put up for the purpose. The sermon was admirable. Several natives were intermingled with the rest of the congregation which amounted to about 200. The singing of the Old Hundredth Psalm occasioned an emotion not often felt. —Barnicoat Diary. 30th August, 1842: Mr Moore appointed teacher of the Nelson School. —“Nelson Examiner.” 1/10/42.
