STRAIN UPON IMPORTS
BRITISH CLOTHING RATION REDUCED ALLOWANCES FOR INDUSTRIAL WORKERS (Rec. 10.35 a.m.) Rugby, Aug. 27. British clothing coupons available on 12th October will have to last five and a half instead of four and a half months. Announcing the change, the President of the Board of Trade, Dr. Hugh Dalton, said the country had to reckon with a severe strain upon imports for some time ahead. After consultation with the Trades Union Council and the British Employers’ Federation many classes of industrial workers will receive special allowances. Children will also get extra coupons.—B.O.W. ______________
