MAPUA-MAHANA MAIL
(To the Editor) Sir.—The people of Mapua and sur- I rounding districts are one with Mr I Clark in his objection regarding mail three days a week. This community has as much right to a daily mail as j the towns. W e have seen two carriers bumped off the road and another would j probably have been treated the same I way. but the people demanded that his j two trucks be kept on. In another case we had a truck delivering wood. He i also was zoned and now wc have a job to get wood Coal is 4s 9d a cwt. j and not the best There is a lorry run- 1 ning Monday, Wednesday and Friday j and the mail Tuesday. Thursday and Saturday 1 would like to repeat the ; question asked by Mr Clark about re- i funds and rebates If the present mail j contract cannot be carried out, let it be j attended to by the service which passes j through daily Our men are fighting for a new order, but this looks too much like what they are fighting against I think an explanation is due to the settlers in regard to two outside trucks plying in this district when we have local trucks to do all the work needed. In the < 11'-season they could run to Nelson and also carry our local mail.—l am, etc S. A. CAMPBELL Mapua. 26th Aug
