DECREASE ANNOUNCED

• ARGO WAR RISK RATES Marine underwriters announced a 5 cent decrease in the cargo war risk rates on all routes previously affected by the incerase on 13th August. Shipments via Panama between Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canadian Atlantic ports are reduced to the former 20 per cent, rate, while the transpacific per cent, rate is maintained. The announcement said that Brazil s declaration of war is expected to reduce war risk hazards. The “Journal of Commerce” ascribed the change also to increasingly effective anti-sub-marine measures.—P.A.
