THE TASMAN FLYER
ARRIVAL AT WELLINGTON
WELCOMED BY LARGE CROWD (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. Mr Guy Menzies, the Tasman flyer, arrived at Rongotai aerodrome at 10.20 and was tumultuously received by a large crowd. ‘ He flew his ’plane solo, Mr James, his partner, travelling in one of the two accompanying ’planes in charge of Flight-Lieut. Mercer. The other was in charge of flight-Lientenant Barlow, who was accompanied by Mr Blackiston. Two locaL ’planes which escorted the flyers were piloted by F. J. McDonald and C. Waite. Mr Menzies was received by the Mavor (Mr Troup), the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, and Mr T. C. A. Hislop, president of the Wellington Aero Club. Regarding the Tasman flight Mr Menzies expressed the opinion that in ten years everybody would be doing it.
