CIVIC RECEPTION
PRIME MINISTER WELCOMED HOME DOMINION’S HIGH STANDING (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Prime Minister, the Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, was accorded a civic reception here task night. In returning thanks for the city’s greetings, Mr Forbes stated that the financial leaders at Home had told him New Zealand was one of the soundest of the Dominions. It was held in high repute in regard to its finance, which was very valuable to the country at the present time when there were so many doubts and difficulties to face and overcome. Credit was built up on confidence, and New Zealand held the confidence of those who had watched its financial policy over a term of years. Mr Forbes was protected at tlje reception by one of the strongest police guards seen in Wellington, on account of the threat of demonstration by the unemployed. However, it failed to materialise, and with the exception of a few interruptions at the rear of the hall the reception passed without incident.
