On Saturday last the fourth match in connection, with the Green Cup competition was played on the Riwaka lawns, betwen Riwaka (holders) and Motueka (challengers), and resulted in a victory for the visitors by 66 points to 63. The lawns were in perfect order and called forth very favourable comments by the Motueka players. Mr J. McCarthy, who takes a keen interest in the appearance of the grounds and playing area is to be complimented on the results of his efforts as greenkeeper. Three clubs, Golden Bay, Motueka, and Riwaka are in the cup competition, and Motueka’s win, the first, is a most popular one. Riwaka will challenge again in February in an attempt to recapture the trophy, as this match will be the last for the season. A cake competition in aid of a new motor mower for the Riwaka Croquet Club produced a sum of £7 7s Od. Three persons, Messrs Macdonald, Public Works, Sandy Bay (440); E. King, Motueka (439); and G. Atkins, Riwaka (439); tied, in the guessing competition, the correct number of sweets in the bottle being 4391,. In a final draw Mr Atkins was first and Messrs King and Macdonald divided the second prize, which was also, a cake. CRICKET FIXTURES Cricket fixtures for Saturday are as follows: — Senior January 24th and 31st —Lower Moutere v. Upper Moutcre at Lower Moutere; Whakarewa v. Motueka at Whakarewa ; Riwaka, a bye. Junior January 24th—Lower Montere v. Ngalimoti B. at Ngatimoti; Whakarewa v. Motueka at Motueka; Ngatimoti A. v, Riwaka at Riwaka; Tui v. Upper Montere at Tui.
