DUSTCART FIRE ENGINE
The members of Penmaenmawr voluntary fire bi’igade have resigned, because the only vehicle provided for their conveyance to fires was the Council’s dustcart. Apparently the transport was on occasion slow. So much so that a recent outbreak to which they had been called had practically burnt itself out by the time the dustcart drew up to the scene; whereupon a caustic wit greeted-the fireman with: “Ah, ashes to ashes is that the idea?”
