NAVAL PARITY

FRANCO-ITALIAN AGREEMENT (United Pres* Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON,, 16th January. Tlie Paris correspondent of the “Morning Post” says that it is understood here that a practically complete Franco-ltalian naval agreement has been reached, the only question, that of submarines, being unsettled. France undertakes to limit herself to seven 10,000-ton cruisers, compared with the twelve she demanded in London. Italy contents herself with six, though retaining the theoretical right of parity. The status quo will be maintained in capital ships and aeroplane carriers. France wants submarines aggregating 75,000 tons to Italy's 45,000 tons. The latter, how—ever, is holding on for 52,700 tons in submarines.
