SHOOTING ACCIDENT
YOUNG MAN INJURED Yesterday morning at about 8 o’clock a young man named Joe Coleman, whose home is in Trafalgar street North, employed on the road formation work at Croixelles, met with a serious accident. With some companions he had been out shooting, and was leaning on his rifle when it went off. The bullet passed through one finger, took the knuckle off another and then passed through the right armpit and out through the shoulder. First aid was administered by one of the men at the camp, after which the injured man was carried on % stretcher to the main road, from where he was conveyed to the Nelson Public Hospital. Inquiry at the Hospital today shows that Coleman’s injuries are serious. An endeavour was made to get a doctor from Havelock, but one was not available. It is stated that the first aid outfit at the relief camp was nearly depleted, and that shirts had to be torn up to provide bandages.
