INTERNATIONAL RUGBY
SENSATIONAL DRAW BETWEEN ENGLAND AND WALES
(United Preßg Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, I7th January. At Twickenham 60,000 spectators saw an amazing finish to the International Rugby match England versus Wales. With the score 6-3 in favour of Wales at the end of the first half Boon took the longest throw in, aiming at a loose Welshman. He miscalculated the distance and the ball fell into the hands of Burland who scored a try which was converted, giving England a lead of 8-6. There was no further score until three minutes before the close when Morley burst through the English defence and scored. Basset, the captain, converted, making the score 11 to 8 in favour of Wales. It seemed a thousand to one to support the first Welsh win at Twickenham, and the spectators began to pour out of the ground, hut 10 seconds before the whistle sounded for the end of the game Black, the South African Rhodes scholar, took a long shot from a free kick and registered a goal, equalising scores 11 all.
RESTRICTIONS ON WELSH PLAYERS LONDON, 17th January. The Australian Cricket Board of Control find some relief from criticism of its restriction on test players in England in the rules and regulations of the Welsh team which arrived in London to play England at Twickenham. The team was housed in a hotel near the ground and were not permitted to attend the bi-annual smoke concert last night. Instructions were issued chat every man must be in bed at eleven o’clock. They were provided with hot water bottles and were instructed ..chat there was not to be any noise in the corridors.
