THE DISMISSED WORKERS 75 GOING TO TAKAKA ON TAR AKOHE-WAIN UI ROAD The Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, lias forwarded the following telegram to the secretary of the Nelson Provincial Progress League: “With reference to the matter of providing work for the railway workers dismissed from the Midland railway, arrangements are being made to transfer 7f> married men to the TarakoheWaiuui road in the Tabaka, county. The question of providing further work is receiving attention.” The League has also received word from the Hon. H. Atmore, Minister of Education, and Mr G. C. Black, M.P., to the effect that the request for a deputation will be placed before tlie Prime Minister on his arrival in New Zealand on Tuesday next. Mr Black states that the work is one which has been advocated for some time past by the Takaka County. He had made representations on the matter to the Government on several occasions, and when the Minister of Mines, the Hon. A. J. Murdoch, was in Takaka recently a deputation from the County Council waited upon him in regard to the same.

REQUEST FOR PARTY CAUCUS Mr G. C. Black, M.P. for Motueka, lias received the following reply from Mr Munns, Government Whip:— “Re your telegram asking for a caucus of the United Party, I will consult the Acting-Prime Minister personally on Monday next. Regards.”
