VALUE OF SPEEDOMETER
A NECESSARY INSTRUMENT
Often speedometers are blamed for noises, hut rarely can these he traced to the speedometer itself. So-called speedometer noises occur when the flexible shaft or cable is pushed into a position where it has too sharp a bend. This can he corrected by reaching behind the instrument hoard, and moving the shaft into a more favourable posi-
tion. The speedometer is one of the most necessary instruments on one’s car. It tells how fast one is driving, how far one has travelled, how the car is performing on acceleration and hills, gives distances between towns, indicates when to change oil, and when to have other services performed in accordance with the instruction manual, tells what tvre and petrol mileage one is getting, and makes possible a check on the whole cost of operating the car. Thus it is well worth while to test the accuracy of the instrument occasionally between mile posts.
