WORK AT IMPERIAL CONFERENCE REMARKS BY GOVERNORGENERAL (By Telegraph—Press Association) INVERCARGILL, 14th January. "A warm tribute to the work done by the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. G. \V. Forbes) at the Imperial Conference was paid by the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) at a reception to him this afternoon.
His Excellency said Mr Forbes was worthy of the warmest welcome on his return, for he had acquitted himself with distinct credit.
“Mr, Forbes expressed in simple, straight, and courageous language the views he thought best calculated to promote the prosperity, not only of his own country, but also of the Motherland and other Dominions.” said the Governor-General. “His opinions with regard to economic relations and his statesmanlike utterances at the Conference generally evoked the warmest admiration of all sections of the assembly. He lias faithfully fulfilled a difficult task as representative of this Dominion and a universal chorus of approval is his due.”
