FRENCH AGRICULTURE
IN TRAGIC POSITION (United Preen Association—By Electrlo Telegrapll—Copyright) (Received 15tli January, 1.40 a.m.) PARIS, i4lh January. • Describing the position of French agriculture as tragic, M. Boret, Minister of Agriculture, interviewed, pointed out that stock was selling below the cost of production, and peasants were losing 20 to 25 francs on a quintal of wheat. He announced that he was introducing energetic remedies which lie admits may increase the cost of living, but the Government was seeking reduction in other directions. He added: “The consumer must learn that we arj entering an era of restrictions.”
