NEARING HOME
MR FORBES AT SYDNEY (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 14th January. Mr and Mrs Eorbes, Sir Thomas Sidey and Lady Sidey, accompanied by Messrs Thomson and Jeffrey, and Dr. Craig, Comptroller of Customs, arrived this afternoon aboard the Ormonde. They were met by Mr Schmitt, New Zealand Trade Commissioner, and Mr Gosling, Chief Secretary, who extended a welcome oil behalf of the State Government. A number of New Zealanders were also present, and the party were soon engaged in making and renewing acquaintances. Mr Forbes when questioned, declined to make any statement touching the Imperial Conference and other matters affecting New Zealand beyond what bad already been, cabled, declaring that he desired to keep a full report, which will contain some interesting and important announcements, until he arrives home. The party are all in excellent health after a pleasant voyage. The New Zealand Women’s Association are entertaining Mrs Forbes this evening. Mr Forbes and Sir Thomas Sidey will be guests at a luncheon given by the New Zealand Association and the Sydney Millions Club to-morrow, after a civic welcome at the Town Hall.
