Mr 11. A. Telford, now part-owner of Phar Lap, states that he purchased an interest in this gelding in order to prevent any wealthy international owner or trainer taking him out of the country. Mr Telford sails for Now Zealand on Friday to attend the yearling sales at Wellington. WEIGHT-FOR-AGE RACES AT FLEMINGTON MAKING THEM MORE INTERESTING (Received 15th January. 8.45 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. All future weight-for-age. races at Flemington will be subject to penalties and allowances, and the winners of standard weight-for-age races of the value of £IOOO or over will carry a 71b penalty. No allowance will be made for geldings. The object is to make these races more interesting.
