MISSING FISHERMAN SAFE

NEW PLYMOUTH. This Day. James Smith, the missing Waitara fisherman believed to be drowned, was found early this morning after 24 hours’ absence. Rough weather capsized the boat, Smith being dazed by hitting his head on the gunwale. He struggled ashore, and wandered albng the beach in a semi-conscious condition till he collapsed. He later recovered and found his way to the main road a few miles north of Waitara. He was picked up and brought to town, still in a dazed condition.
