CORNISH MYSTERY
A WOMAN ARRESTED CHARGED WITH MURDER (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) {Received 14th January, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, i3th January. Mrs Hearn, who disappeared following the death of Mrs Thomas, a Cornish farmer’s wife, in whose organs an analysis disclosed a fatal quantity of arsenic, lias boon arrested and charged with the murder of Mrs Thomas. Sensational evidence at the inquest at the time of the occurrence deepened the double mystery of the murder of the one woman and the disappearance of the other. The accused was remanded.
Mrs Hearn look lodgings on the 11th November under the name of Annie Faithful!, in a working class district- at Torquay, and secured a position as cookgeneral to a family named Powell, remainjing there until arrested. Mr Powell’s suspicions were aroused by her habit of cutting out photographs of Mrs Hearn and all references to the case from newspapers. Eventually it dawned on him that she resembled Mrs Hearn. He informed the police who arrested her. She admitted her identity and is now in Exeter Gaol.
