Y.M.C.A.

MEETING OF DIRECTORS A very full attendance of the board of the Y.M.C.A. met last evening to go into the financial situation, and to wind up the Miniature Golf Course. Before the business was proceeded with a vote of sympathy with Mrs Rowe and family in their recent breavement was passed. A number of members spoke on their esteem for the late Mr Rowe and appreciation of his services was expressed. The general secretary reported two minor thefts from the building during the Christmas and New Year holidays amounting to about £7. Approximately half of this amount belonged to tiie golf account and the other to sundry petty cash items in connection with the general funds. The matter had been put in the hands of the police by the general secretary immediately on its being known. A statement of the 'golf course receipts and expenditures showed that during the season the grass had lasted the business was very good, but owing to the turf giving \vay so soon the season had not been long enough to make anything out of it and therefore the course would wind up with a debit balance of £lB after paying for all plant. r With the presentation of the Hon. Treasurer’s report and balance sheet on the Association’s finances the Directors decided that another special effort would have to be made to put things on a proper business footing. It seemed impossible in that meeting to make any concrete suggestion as to what the policy in the matter would be, and it was therefore held over till a future meeting. Tiie Directors were well satisfied with the progress the General Secretary was making in all departments of his work and felt sure that the difficulty in financing was only continuing on account of the depression everywhere. The General Secretary’s annual leave was arranged to commence at a date to suit.
