DEATH OF LADY PLENDER ILLNESS ON THE RIVIERA LONDON, 2nd January. On the day of the grant of a peerage to Sir William Plender and almost to the hour, his wife died in his arms at the Riviera resort whither she had gone for her health. She had been ill for five weeks. “Me.were hoping the change might do her good; but she suddenly became' worse,’ ’said Lord Plender. Lady Plender’s death brings a lifelong love-story to an end. They were married in 1891, when lie was making his way at the age of 30, and she was 27 and she helped him on his way to the eminence he lias attained as an accountant, and financial adviser. She was 66 years of age. Lord Piender took home his wife’s body for burial in the little country village of Suubridge, near Sevenoaks. He has no children.
