RIWAKA
COSTER BALL (From Our Own Correspondent) The big coster ball, for which members of the Riverside Tennis CTub, had made elaborate preparations, was held in the Riwaka Hall and proved a most enjoyable and successful function. The hall decorations were quaint in “Arry and ‘Arrict” style, consisting of brightly coloured lights, numerous horseshoes and rows of bottles. One of the outstanding featm-es of the evening was the delicious home-made supper, conveyed to the guests in push-carts. Winners of prizes for best ’Arry and ’Arriet costumes were Miss Nada Goodall and Mr 11. Stebbings first; Miss Molly Rowling and Mr T. Bradley second; Mrs Geo. Inglis and Mr N. Baker third. At one minute to twelve the merry throng linked hands and sang “Anld Lang Syne” and welcomed in the New Year with the blowing of whistles and ringing of bells. Music for the dance programme was supplied by Mr Harold Williams’s orchestra and dancing continued until the small hours of the morning, the last waltz being danced to the tune of “There’s No Place Like Home.”
