WELLINGTON HARBOUR SWIM

(By Telegraph—Press Association)

WELLINGTON, This Day. Miss Lily Copplestone, the well-known New Zealand swimmer, swam across Wellington harbour yesterday afternoon in 4 hours 51 minutes. Under the conditions prevailing, a strong north westerly wind and a consequent choppy sea, only the strongest swimmers could have made much headway at all, yet Miss Copplestone did the total swimming distance of eight miles in two hours twelve minutes less than Miss Gleitze did seven miles under infinitely better conditions. Miss Gleitze was not greatly concerned with her swimming time, her effort being of an endurance nature.
