Won by twelve lengths. Time, 1.44 4-5. THE CHIEF EVENT DESCRIBED TARNDALE’S PRESIDENT’S HANDICAP (By Telegraph—Special to “The Mail”) CHRISTCHURCH, 10th January. Regal Voyage and Tarndale were fancied for the President’s Handicap. Entering on the last lap Lady Cello led Warepa, Tarndale, Reyal Voyage, and Whakataua. In the back Lady Cello broke. Tarndale Jed into the straight (from Reyal Voyage, Whakataua and John Noble. Tarndale continued on to win comfortably by three lengths from Whakataua, who finished fast to beat Regal Voyage by four lengths. The favourite had every chance, having a good run on the fence. She broke badly when challenged, by Whakataua in the run home. John Noble was a fair fourth. AUSTRALIAN RACING (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, 10th January. At the Canterbury races the former New Zealander Anda, 8.2 (McCarten) won the Second Division of the Flying Welter Handicap from Lady Oclare (8.10), with Black Dome (8.7) third. Twelve started. Won by a length and a half. Time, 1.132.
