GIANT FLAGPOLE FROM CANADA

VICTORIA (8.C.), Bth January. A giant flagpole of British Columbia Douglas fir standing 180 feet, similar to that sent to Kew Gardens, London, will be presented to the Australian Government to stand at Canberra. This was arranged at a meeting on Thursday between Air Moloney and the Premier, Mr Tolmie, prior to the sailing of the Australian Trade Minister by the Aorangi: The Government also presented four paintings of British Columbia scenes to hang in Government Buildings at Canberra. The flagpole will be shipped in the spring. ■
