CHICAGO GANGSTER ARRESTED (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) CHICAGO, Bth January. The capture of the murderer of Alfred Lingle, the Chicago “Tribune reporter ,is announced by Pat Roche, investigator for the State Attorney. The prisoner is Leo V. Brothers, wanted in St. Louis for gang murder. He has been positively identified as the killer. He was captured on 21st December.

A sensation was caused 'in Chicago in June of last year by the murder of Alfred Lingle, well-known for his familiarity with the underworld, who was shot when about to depart on a tram journey. Later the disclosure was made that Lingle, a reporter of the “Tribune,” had been depositing largo sums of money at his hank each month, and was a very wealthy man. He lost 200,000 dollars on the stock market recently. A clergyman at a meeting of ministers made the charge that some Chicago reporters were “No better than crooks themselves.”
