DINNER TIME IN FRANCE
j Until the middle of the sixteen century the dinner hour in France was 10 a.m,, with supper at 4.p.,m. Thereafter dinner was. postponed till 11 a.m. and super' lilP 7>p.‘m: ; Louis XIV. again advanced the dinner hour to noon. During the eighteenth century the dinner hour was postponed till 1 p.m., and then till 2 p.m. By. 1782 people dined generally at 4 p.m. and supped at midnight.
