ALMOST TRAPPED

AN AUCKLAND FIRE GOOD WORK BY FIREMEN (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, This Day. Seven peoplo were almost trapped in a burning house in Wellington street in the city early this morning, hut through great work by firemen all escaped without injury. Mr and Mrs J. K. Browne, their three children aged two, seven and nine, also -Mr and Mrs 11. B. Jackson, and a youth, Douglas Grant, were sleeping upstairs in a wooden two-storied house when fire was discovered. Jackson and Grant escaped by using a sheet rope, while Brown hurriedly carried his children on to a balcony. The youngest child was safely lowered to the pavement in a blanket, hut the mother then fainted and she and the other children were lowered by firemen. Just as they were removed flames hurst out of the windows behind them.
