SIGNIFICANT TREND The executive committee of tho United States Merchants’ Association, in a recent report issued in New York on the benefit of lower prices to the consumer, stated that 10 dollars is now equivalent in retail purchasing value to 11 dollars or 12 dollars, or even more, a year ago. A woman’s ready-made coat costs 10 to 32 per cent, less than a veyr ago. Stockings, underwear, furs, and silks are notably lower and one store quotes thirty-seven articles of women’s attire as 25 per cent, off from a year ago. Foods are reported more than 10 per cent, lower.
