SUPPOSED ISLAND NON-EXISTENT

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright)

(Received Bth January, 8.45 a.m.) OSLO, 7th January

Depths of over 2000 fathoms have been found by the Antarctic survey ship Norvegia on the supposed site of the Nimrod Islands, the existence of which is definitely disproved. The Norvegia then sought the so-called Doughert Island, reaching the .reported position on the 28th December. The depth here was also over 2000 fathoms. No trace of land could be discovered.
