IMPORTANT EVENTS

AVIATION AND TELEVISION HOW THE WORLD ADVANCES NEW YORK, 10th December. Two events of last week show the pace at which the world is travelling in the conquest of time and space (reports the ‘New Zealand Herald” correspondent). The United States Post Office invited tenders for an air mail service across the Atlantic, by way of the Azores and Bermuda. Persons who possessed television receivers heard and saw a music programme broadcast from Boston. Coste and Bellonte, with the backing of the French Government, opened negotiations afttr their recent Paris-New York flight for the establishment of a regular transatlantic air mail service. English air transport companies are also known to be keenly interested in the project. The Imperial Airways, whose mail) services extend to India, discussed the scheme with the Pan-American Airways, now conducting a ii iil service from New York to Buenos Aires.

The tentative route is from London to Lisbon, the Azores, Bermuda and a point on the Atlantic coast, of Norfolk, West Virginia; with spur lines running north to New York, south to Miami. It is anticipated that the Governments interested will pay a subsidy of approximately 8s 4d a mile. The French Government is known to have acquired control of valuable landing rights in the Azores. As to television, the Boston programme was a tentative trial, pending decision by a conference summoned by the Federal Government later in the month, to which all organisations interested in the subject have been invited. It is expected that it will be definitely determined whether or not television stations will continue to operate on an experimental basis or be granted the use of a special band of frequencies, EUCALYPTI EXTRACT FOR ALL AND ALL FOR SANDERS Because discriminating people have learned to appreciate the value of quality, SANDER’S EUCALYPTI EXTRACT, as well a*s being a curative agent, is an unrivalled prophylactic for colds, flu, and all infectious diseases on account of wonderful antiseptic value and non-irritant action.
