YOUTHFUL CRIMINAL
A BAD START (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON. This Day. Stated to have come from a good family, and with his parents heartbroken at the course of crime into which he had plunged, Jack Hands, aged 19 years, was convicted and ordered to come up within three years for sentence for obtaining clothing from Vance Vivian by means of valueless cheques, and to make restitution of £l3. It was said that the youth had come under the influence of another young' man at Napier and had committed thefts there and at Blenheim, Christchurch, Timaru and Ashburton. He had been admitted to three years probation at Christchurch, and was to appear for sentence on the Napier charge next month. Prior to his association with the other man his character had been excellent. The other man had been sentenced to four months imprisonment.
