WEDDING
SHARP-JONES
A very pretty wedding was solem-. msec! at All Saints Church, Nelson, on 31st December, the contracting parties being Ellen (Nellie), only daughter of Mrs and the late Mr T. Jones, Stepney - ville, and Ernest Edward son of the late Mr and Mrs James Sharp of Nelson. Archdeacon Dart performed the ceremony. The bride entered the church on the arm of her cousin, Mr Norman Price, of Waimea West. She was attired in a frock of ivory georgette with full-flared skirt and drooping hemline, with the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. Miss Doris Sharp (sister of the bridegroom) was the bridesmaid and wore a frock of pink crepe majestic with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and roses. The two little flower girls, Pat and Betty Sharp (nieces of the bridegroom) looked very dainty in frocks of pale pink and green crepe-de-chine respectively with tulle mob caps. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Cyril Chrystall as best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Mayfair tearooms, where the bride’s mother, wearing a navy crepe de soil’ frock with hat to match, received her guests. The happy couple left by boat for the North, the bride travelling in a frock of saxe blue with flecked tweed coat and blue hat to match. Among the numerous and useful presents was a pyrex set, a gift of the “Mail” staff, of which both Mr and Mrs Sharp have been members for some years.
