THE CHIEF EVENT DESCRIBED COLONIAL BOY’S DOMINION HANDICAP (By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail"' CHRISTCHURCH; This Day. In a £ISOO pool in the Dominion Handicap, Real Girl carried over 200 tickets more than were entrusted to the bracketed pair Major Lind and Colonial Boy. An interesting race for the greater part of the journey was witnessed, with Real Girl acting as pacemaker from the despatch. She was attended by Author Franz until three furlongs from home, where Colonial Boy shot to the front and led into the straight from Real Girl, Hostess and Nelsonian. Colonial Boy was always an easy winner and had four four lengths to spare at- the finish from Real Girl, who beat Hostess by three lengths. Nelsonian was a length away in front of Parkwood. The winner showed a rare burst of speed when called upon. He was well placed throughout and getting a run between Real Girl and Author Franz three furlongs from home he soon decided the issue. His mate, Major Lind, was up with the leaders early but was done with tackling/lie last circuit. Author Franz also retired over the serious stages. High Jinks, who was well supported, was pulled up in the first half mile owing to some of his gear breaking.
