TRADE AGREEMENT
CANADA AND AUSTRALIA
CONSIDERED HIGHLY SATIS* FACTORY
(United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 6th January, 12.10 p.m.) OTTAWA. 6th January. Addi’essing a luncheon of the Board of Trade to the Canadiaix Manufacturers’ Association to-day, Mr Moloney, Australian Minister or Trade, said:: “The most I can say regarding negotiations with Canada is that we received what I con- • sider a highly satisfactory agreement.” .. Every viewpoint of Canadians and Aus- - li’alians was considered. I will have to take the agreement back to Austi'alia for ratification, but I have no doubt that ... the result will be the reaching of a satis- ’i factory agreement. It is not the inten- . tion of the Australian Government ; to embarrass or injure any Canadian’ in- ~ dustry, but more to agree upon a pact that will be to mutual advantage. Justas in Australia we do not permit anyone to make deprecating remarks aboutCanada, we know you in Canada will protect Australia in this manner. All-. we desire in Australia is that the truth be told.” The Minister said Australia, like other Governments, was caught in the world depression. “We have no doubt we will pull through this like we have other troubles.”
