SERIOUS EFFECT ON RACING / (United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, sth January The betting tax is so seriously affecting the attendance and volume of bettin r that a number of country clubs in Now South Wales have decided to abandon racing while the Lang Government is in office. RACING TO BE CURTAILED SYDNEY, sth January. The Premier, Mr Lang, stated that he had noticed considerable propaganda against the betting tax. and complaints of dwindling attendances at race meetings. This he felt was an argument in favour of the curtailment of racing. He therefore would invite his colleagues to agree to a reduction of meetings in the metropolitan arqii, which possibly would lead to better attendances at those which would be permitted.
