A STABLE LEGISLATURE ‘ THE CONFERENCE REVIEWED (United Press association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 3rd January. “The Times”, reviewing the Indian Conference visualises the prospect of an All-India federation as an immediate possibility and not merely the ideal for the future. The chances of a stable legislature are greater than ever. The whole trend of the conference has beqn to reveal a unanimous agreement on the necessity for a strong government. There is no longer any serious divergence here about the transference of effective, responsibility to Indian shoulders. The conference would not be a complete failure even if it broken up in disorder to-morrow.

DEATH OF A DELEGATE ! (Received sth January, 1.35 p.m.) LONDON, 4th January. The death is announced of Maulana Muhammad Ali, a Moslem delegate to the Round Table Conference, from heart failure, from which he suffered a long time. ■ Mr Wedgwood Benn, Secretary of State for India, in a tribute says that Ali courted death. Although he knew he was a dying man he gladly crossed the seas to serve India in defiance of the doctor’s orders. He entertained guests on Ist inst. from his death bed, pleading for a better understanding.
