(Received sth January, 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Alarm has been caused in the suburb of Waverley by the actions of a maniac who has attempted to asphyxiate the inmates of two households with gas from a hose which lie attached to a meter. The man is still at large. Two previous attempts failed and this time three girls had a very narrow escape. At both places the madman disturbed the father of the house, who gave chase.
