Mathieson took three for 26, Cleverly four for 24, Wensley two for 28, McCoy ope for 27. Otago followed on, and in tiie second innings lost eight wickets for 264—Blunt 43, Dickinson 59. Budcock 70. As far as Otago is concerned it is Blunt’s match. So far he lias taken' eight wickets out of ten for 99 on the first day, and scored two forties on the second clay. Otago’s score for two innings is (with two wickets of the second strike in hand) only 68 in excess of Auckland’s first innings’ total. The visitors should not have a difficult task to win. CANTERBURY V. WELLINGTON CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Wellington’s first innings against Canterbury realised 351. Talbot took two wickets for 41 runs, Merritt three for 90, Lester two for 36. Canterbury in tiie second innings lost five wickets for 236 runs, Roberts 116, Talbot 61. Canterbury made a much better showing in the second innings. Roberts, after a slow beginning, gradually gained confidence, and gave a fine exhibition of driving. Talbot again displayed sound but aggressive form.
