HIGHLAND GATHERING SUCCESSFUL DAY AT BOTANICAL RESERVE Everything went with a swing and no hitch whatever occurred to mar the day’s enjoyment at the Nelson Scottish Society’s gathering in the Botanical Reserve yesterday. The officials one and all worked with a will and the events were all got off to time. The secretary (Mr D. N. Bishop) and the assistant secretary (Mr W. Annand) together with Chieftain D. Malloch (steward) in the secretary’s tent, had a very busy clay, and the success of the gathering in no small measure was due to their untiring efforts. The ladies had charge of the refreshments, and this part was carried out with their usual ability and thoroughness. The side shows did good business. The judge of the piping was I’ipe Major J. McFarlane (Blenheim); judge of dancing, Pipe -Major S. O’Hara; supervisor sports events, Mr J. Finglancl; band secretary, Corporal J. Patterson RESULTS Further results are as follows : Strathspey and Reel, first prize 60s, 2nd 355, 3rd 30s (five competitors)— Graham 1, A. Guild (Blenheim) 2, S. Chisholm (Christchurch) 3. Marches (intermediate) (six competitors), first prize 40s, 2nd 255, 3rd 10s—--1). Guild (Bleinheim) 1, N. Banks (Denniston) 2, J. Topp (Motueka) 3. Marches Local; first prize medal and 10s, 2nd medal —Gracie McKay (Wellington) 1, L. Delaney (Motueka) 2, I. Taylor 3.
