CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT

RESULTS OF FINALS

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The championship tennis finals resulted: — (Men’s singles—Stodman (Auckland) beat Barnett (Canterbury) 7-5, 6-1, 6-3. Men’s doubles —Seay and Angas (Canterbury) beat France brothers (Wellington) 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. Women’s singles—Mrs Dykes (Auckland) beat Miss Marjorie Macfarlane (Auckland) 6-1, 9-7. Mixed doubles—Miss Andrew and Seay (Canterbury) beat Mrs Thomson and Wilson 'Wellington) 7-5, 3-6, 7-5. Girls’ singles—Miss Bishop (Christchurch) beat Miss Reese 6-2, 6-5. Junior mixed doubles—Miss Howo and Davys (Wellington) beat Miss Poole and Kean 6-1, 6-5. Tlie Wildjng Cun goes to Auckland with six points to Canterbury’s five. All the titles changed hands.

GREAT BRITAIN DEFEAT INDIA SEVEN MATCHES TO TWO DELHI, Ist January. India was not disgraced in the international tennis match against Great Britain, though the visitors won by seven matches to two.
