NEW YEAR IN CHINA
ACCORDING TO SOLAR CALENDAR

SHANGHAI, 31st December. Striking preparations are being made to celebrate New Year according to the solar calendar instead of the lunar. Officials are determined to mark the change with considerable festivity nevertheless masses are strongly adhering to the old system and are refusing to observe the foreign New Year despite Governmental threats of fines and possible imprisonment for those who refuse to reform.
