AUSTRALIAN BUTTER
——— CANADIAN TRADE AGREEMENT SETTLEMENT HOPED SOON (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright; OTTAWA, 31st December. Until the completion of the agreement no Australian butter will be sold in Canada at less than 32 cents per pound. As the present wholesale price is about thix-ty cents the effect is for the present at least that Australian butter will cease to be a factor on the domestic market. Messrs Maloney and Stevens are still conferring, and Australia’s undertaking is believed to have paved the way for a settlement of one of the more difficult factors. The setting of a minimum price has been suggested as a method to be followed in settling the butter question in the treaty itself.
