VIGOROUS DEMAND
FOR REVISION OF YOUNG PLAN HINDENBURG’S NEW YEAR MESSAGE (United Press Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 2nd January, 10.45 a.m.) BERLIN, Ist January. President Hindenburg’s New Year message for the first time _ includes a vigorous demand for the revision of the Young Plan which is “still casting a dark shadow over Germany’s future.” The evacuation of the Rhineland was the only fulfilment of last year’s hopes. More energy must be infused towards real disarmament, not only as an act of international justice to Germany, but as the surest means of universal peace. Regretting internal differences tending to tear the nation apart and frustrate united efforts against common dangers and the Government’s plan, he said that the only hope of overcoming the unexampled economic distress was that the people must rise above obstinate, internecine quarrels, business men, labour leaders and all patriots joining in a common effort to face the .threat to upset the whole moral and social foundations of the nation.
