WHY THE REVOLUTION FAILED (United Press Association—By Bleotrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 31st December. The “Daily Express” publishes a message smuggled from a prison near Madrid from Senor Zamore, leader of Republicans, detailing the elaborate preparations before the revolt toward a republic. He himself would have been its first president. He points out that the people were forced to adopt revolutionary methods because the Monarchyshowed itself directly culpable of the shameful oppression imposed by the dictatorship under which it sheltered the opposing real constitution.. The monarchy deserved to fall and it would fall. Zamore affirms that the plot failed because Jaca enthusiasts took action precipitately three days before the call. COALITION GOVERNMENT URGED MADRID, 31st December. The Liberal leader Romanones, in an interview with King Alfonso, advised his Majesty to constitute a constitutional Coalition Government to take over control until the passions of the people subside. Berenguer, in an interview with the press, reiterated his intention of holding the election in March. Romanones replied advising the Liberals to ignore Berenguer as being quite unstated to the preparation of a general election.
