LAWN TENNIS

WAIMEA ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT The annual tournament of the Waimea Tennis Association was held on Boxing Day and Saturday on the Richmond courts. It was a very successful and most interesting two days' tennis, the weather being perfect, and before the close some keen tennis was witnessed. In one of the junior ladies' championship matches (a three set match), 44 games were played, lasting over two and a quarter hums. In the filial of the men’s championship doubles, between It. Newman and It. Ford, and the Bryant Bros., the play was brilliant, lightning services being returned with ease. The success of the tournament was due to the splendid organisation of the committee. The call stewards had four players ready lo occupy the court when a. match was finished, thereby allowing over 100 sets to be played on three courts in two days.
