KARAPOTI WINS DERBY GAY CREST TAKES A.R.C. HANDICAP STRATFORD CUP TO HIGH FALUTIN’ TRAVIS AXWORTHY’S CANTERBURY HANDICAP New Year’s Day proved popular for racing clubs and meetings were held on the holiday throughout the Dominion. At Ellerslie, Karapoti defeated Cylinder in the 57th G.N. Derby, while the chief handicap at the same meeting fell to Gay Crest. High Falutin’ proved t 66 good for tie Stratford Cup field. The Wairarapa Cup and the Marton Cup went to Royal Parade and Otairi respectively, and Travis Axworthy surprised by winning the chief handicap at the Canterbury Park Trotting Club’s fixture.
