RELIEF FUND
WAKEFIELD DONATIONS The lollowing further donations to the Relief Fund have been received: — Fanners’ Union (Wakefield Branch) 5 0 0 Anonymous 10 0 EXPECTED TO REACH £125,000 (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Mayor states that Auckland and Wellington have each contributed about £25,000 to the earthquake fund, while Christchurch is expected to reach £15,000 and Dunedin £IO,OOO. He expected the total eventually to reach £125,000. He mentioned that lie had demanded balance sheets for all entertainments for which the Town Hall had been given free, and commented on one which was most unsatisfactory. The proceeds were £125, blit the fund only got £4O. The organiser had been paid ten guineas and musicians £25 10s. The Mayor said he had had them on the mat and given them a hot quarter of an hour, but further Ilian that could do nothing. (By Telegraph—Press Association) OAMARTT.
